Carsharing Models and Influences – A Literature Review

Sharing a car is an idea that has been around in some form for many decades. More recently changes in technology and a renewed interest in sustainable living have led to more curiosity about carsharing. Finding ways for more people to get access to shared cars could play an important role in creating a future where people do not need to own their own cars.

A new report, written for INFUZE by Thomas Levermore and Nassar Ghaith from Connected Places Catapult, will be used to inform our research and experiments in local communities.

The report explores models for carsharing and the factors that influence their success as well as models for sharing other assets. It includes consideration of different business models as well as local and national government policies and regulations that can effect carsharing schemes. It also provides carsharing case studies from a round the world.
